Mechanical Technician – Plant Utilities

About the role

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining critical plant systems and facility equipment. This role ensures reliable operation of utility machines and supports the overall safety and efficiency of the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and operate utility machines including boilers, reverse‑osmosis units, distillers, chillers, cooling towers and air compressors.
• Perform moderate‑level troubleshooting, diagnostics and repairs on mechanical systems within the scope of training.
• Identify equipment issues, develop preventive‑maintenance plans and execute scheduled maintenance tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of utility equipment according to standard procedures.
• Guide the maintenance team in repairing building components and non‑productive equipment.
• Oversee workshop tasks that support preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Refresh the team on plant SOPs, corporate specifications, daily water analysis, critical‑system operation and GMP practices.
• Record daily mechanical maintenance activities and ensure compliance with GMP/GDP documentation requirements.
• Promote EHS best safety practices and operate workshop equipment safely.

Required profile

• Diploma or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical, food or dairy industry.
• Familiarity with GMP/GDP requirements and plant safety standards.
