MEP Technical Director

About the role

The MEP Design Manager will lead and supervise the design and engineering activities for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire‑fighting, fire‑alarm, HVAC and related MEP systems across residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare and other specialized facilities. The role ensures technically sound, coordinated, code‑compliant and cost‑effective design deliverables while managing the design team and collaborating with consultants, clients and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of MEP systems for design‑and‑build projects, preparing concept and shop drawings.
• Ensure all designs comply with local and international codes such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, DIN, BS, UPC, IPC, NFPA and energy regulations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary MEP designs, review and sign off drawings before submission, and follow up on consultant/client approvals.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities, support variation orders and provide technical input to cost, procurement and operations teams.
• Conduct site inspections to verify design implementation and resolve technical or coordination issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in MEP engineering and design, including design‑and‑build projects.
• Proven experience managing MEP design teams and delivering projects in residential, commercial, industrial and healthcare sectors.
• Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, DIN, BS, NFPA, UPC, IPC).
• Fluent English communication; Arabic is an advantage.
