Metallurgy Engineer

About the role

Maaden is seeking a Metallurgy Engineer to lead the development and continuous improvement of metallurgical processes across its aluminum recycling operations. The role will be based in Ras Al Khair and will act as the technical authority for process methodology, supporting commissioning, ramp‑up and ongoing optimisation of the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Promote safe operating practices, ensure compliance with environmental regulations and drive initiatives to reduce energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, waste and dross generation.
• Develop, maintain and improve operating methodologies for scrap receiving, sorting, charging, melting, alloying, fluxing, casting, homogenisation and product handling.
• Establish SOPs, work instructions and process standards aligned with industry best practices and company excellence requirements.
• Lead process optimisation studies to enhance yield, recovery, productivity, product quality, energy use, furnace performance and environmental impact.
• Provide technical support to operations, maintenance and quality teams; analyse process data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for quality deviations, metal losses, process instability, productivity issues and furnace abnormalities.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous‑improvement tools; lead capability and benchmarking studies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in metallurgy engineering within aluminum recycling, melting, alloying or casting environments.
• Ability to act as technical authority for process methodologies and support plant commissioning and ramp‑up.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and ESG requirements in a heavy‑industry setting.
• Capability to develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions and standardised process documentation.
