Mortuary Technician

About the role

The Mortuary Technician is responsible for the safe, dignified and hygienic handling of deceased patients within a hospital morgue. The role ensures strict compliance with Ministry of Health infection‑control protocols and maintains the chain of custody for all bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive bodies from clinical wards, verify dual‑identifier tags and record chain of custody in the Morgue Register.
• Monitor and record temperature and humidity levels of cold chambers, reporting any deviations immediately.
• Coordinate terminal cleaning and disinfection of storage units, hydraulic lifts and surfaces using hospital‑grade agents.
• Apply MOH precautions such as shrouding or bagging for high‑risk infectious bodies (e.g., COVID‑19, MERS).
• Assist forensic authorities with body identification and sample preservation when police cases arise.
• Release bodies to families or municipal services in a respectful manner.

Required profile

• Diploma or Associate Degree in a relevant field.
• Valid SCFHS registration.
• Arabic language proficiency – advanced.
• English language proficiency – intermediate.

Required skills

• Temperature and humidity monitoring of cold storage.
• Use of hospital‑grade disinfectants for terminal cleaning.
• Operation of hydraulic lifts and related equipment.
