OpenStack Engineering Manager (Saudi Arabia)

About the role

Our partner is looking for an OpenStack Engineering Manager based in Saudi Arabia. This role offers an opportunity to lead a distributed engineering team responsible for operating modern private‑cloud infrastructure for customers worldwide. You will combine technical leadership with people management, service delivery, and continuous engineering improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow an engineering team responsible for day‑to‑day managed services of customer environments, balancing development and operational priorities.
• Improve engineering quality and delivery velocity by establishing effective processes, practices, and team workflows.
• Monitor and measure team health indicators, using insights to boost performance, collaboration, and operational effectiveness.
• Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes that support consistent, reliable, and maintainable service delivery.
• Represent the team with customers, internal stakeholders, product engineering groups, and external teams.
• Maintain clear focus on priorities, milestones, deliverables, and customer commitments across multiple environments.
• Ensure customer deployments meet agreed service‑level requirements and that managed services are delivered consistently and on time.
• Collaborate closely with customers, product engineering, and operations teams to resolve challenges and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology‑related field.
• Proven professional experience in software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java or similar, and/or experience managing technical operations teams.
• Demonstrated professional experience working with OpenStack.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, maintainable code, and engineering quality practices.
• Experience with Linux system administration; familiarity with Ubuntu or Debian is an advantage.
• Technical aptitude for complex distributed systems, cloud architectures, and modern cloud technologies.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies and structured engineering practices.
• Previous experience managing geographically distributed teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel for team events and customer meetings (approximately 20% or less).
