Operation and Process Manager – Wastewater Treatment Plant

About the role

The Operation and Process Manager oversees daily plant operations and process performance for a municipal wastewater treatment facility. The role ensures safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant operation in line with contractual and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily operation of all treatment units, including inlet works, biological treatment, clarification, filtration, disinfection, sludge treatment, and TSE systems.
• Maintain continuous plant availability, stable process performance, and compliance with design and contractual specifications.
• Monitor key process parameters, TSE quality, and beneficial sludge quality; analyse operational and laboratory data.
• Identify process deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Optimise aeration, chemical dosing, sludge wasting, disinfection, energy consumption and overall process efficiency.
• Coordinate with operation, laboratory, maintenance, HSE and reporting teams.
• Review daily logs, shift reports, laboratory results and monthly performance reports.
• Support performance, reliability, capacity and contractual compliance tests.
• Supervise sludge and by‑product management, including production, dewatering, drying, storage and disposal coordination.
• Prepare technical reports, process trends, root‑cause analyses and improvement plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operation.
• 3‑5 years in a senior operational, process or managerial role.
• Strong background in municipal wastewater treatment, preferably large‑scale projects.
• Experience in PPP/O&M contractual environments is a plus.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, biological treatment, disinfection and sludge management.
• Ability to analyse process data, laboratory results, trends and operational KPIs.
• Proficiency with SCADA and plant reporting systems.
• Understanding of compliance requirements and plant performance monitoring.
