Owner of Data Platform (Founding Principal Engineer)

About the role

Axia Medicine is seeking a senior technical leader to own and scale its data platform. The role sits at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and health data science, driving the foundation for multimodal research.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain a HIPAA‑compliant data platform on AWS.
• Lead full‑stack development for data ingestion, processing, and analytics pipelines.
• Collaborate with research teams to integrate genomics and other health modalities.
• Mentor and potentially manage junior engineers as the team grows.
• Define best practices for security, scalability, and reliability in an early‑stage startup environment.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software development experience, preferably full‑stack.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on AWS experience with HIPAA‑compliant architectures.
• At least 2 years working with genomics or multimodal health data.
• Prior experience in an early‑stage startup.
• Strong opinions and vision for building research infrastructure for multimodal data.
