About the role
The Piping Construction Manager leads the planning, coordination and execution of all piping construction activities for large oil and gas projects, ensuring safety, quality and schedule compliance. The role demands extensive experience in fabrication, installation, testing and handover of process piping systems within complex, multicultural environments.
Key responsibilities
- Manage piping construction from fabrication through mechanical completion, developing execution plans and work packs.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary activities with mechanical, structural, civil, electrical and instrumentation teams.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings and international codes such as ASME B31.3.
- Monitor progress, implement recovery plans and prepare weekly/monthly construction reports.
- Promote a strong safety culture, lead toolbox talks, risk assessments and oversee safe execution of lifting, hydro‑testing, pneumatic testing and hot‑work activities.
- Coordinate inspection, testing and QA/QC activities, verifying welding, NDT, flushing and punch‑list closure.
- Manage supervisors, foremen, subcontractors and field engineers, optimizing manpower and equipment utilization.
- Control material requirements, ensuring timely availability for construction tasks.
- Interface with contractors, consultants and project management teams, supporting commissioning and system handover.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 20 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, including 10+ years as a Piping Construction Manager.
- Proven track record delivering large‑scale projects safely, on time and within budget.
- Experience leading multicultural construction teams and managing complex stakeholder environments.
