About the role
The Port Captain (Tugs) is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of tug vessels at Tanajib. The role ensures full regulatory compliance, maintains crew competency, and provides technical support to achieve optimal vessel performance.
Key responsibilities
- Implement the company QSMS onboard in line with ISM and ISPS Code requirements.
- Track and maintain vessel trading certificates and ensure Flag State and Port State Control compliance.
- Conduct competency assessments for all Deck Officers according to QSMS procedures.
- Coordinate daily progress reports with clients and provide operational support to Deck Officers.
- Ensure adherence to Saudi Aramco marine instructions and navigational requirements.
- Manage vessel time‑sheet submission and coordinate vessel arrival, cargo, and provision operations at Tanajib.
- Provide technical solutions to engineering challenges on assigned vessels.
- Monitor vessel survey status and maintain up‑to‑date critical spares stock with Port Engineer and Technical Superintendent.
- Conduct vessel inspections, report deficiencies, and ensure all certificates are current.
- Enforce Aramco Marine Safety & Loss Prevention Program, perform audits, and participate in on‑hire surveys.
- Train unfamiliar Masters and Chief Mates on Aramco operational requirements.
- Replace the Master when required and relieve key vessel personnel in emergencies.
Required profile
- Proven experience in marine operations and vessel management, preferably with tug vessels.
- Strong knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS Code, Flag State and Port State Control regulations.
- Ability to conduct competency assessments and train Deck Officers.
- Familiarity with Saudi Aramco marine instructions and safety programs.
- Capability to coordinate technical spares and work closely with port engineering teams.
- Willingness to assume Master duties temporarily and conduct sea trials for new builds.
