About the role
We are seeking a Principal Equipment Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of power generation equipment and auxiliary systems for large‑scale thermal power plants. The role involves technical leadership across FEED, detailed engineering, procurement support and commissioning for projects of 700 MW and above.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
- Develop engineering execution plans, deliverable registers, manpower plans and schedules.
- Review and approve equipment data sheets, technical specifications, calculations and engineering deliverables.
- Lead technical bid evaluations, provide procurement support and review vendor drawings.
- Coordinate mechanical engineering activities with other disciplines and stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, constructability and value‑engineering studies.
- Drive initiatives on safety, reliability, maintainability, sustainability and cost optimisation.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation projects, including FEED, detailed engineering and procurement support.
- Proven experience on combined‑cycle, cogeneration or conventional thermal plants of 700 MW +.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
Required skills
- Engineering design methodologies and construction practices.
- International codes and standards: ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA, OSHA, IEC, NEC, ISA.
- Design, procurement, installation, mechanical completion, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, startup and performance testing of power generation equipment.
- Power plant performance and simulation tools such as Thermoflow, GT PRO, GateCycle, PEPSE.
