Project Director – Transmission & Distribution (380 kV)

About the role

Our client, a leading global EPC player in power transmission and distribution, seeks a senior Project Director to oversee a portfolio of EPC substation and transmission line projects across Saudi Arabia. You will be responsible for end‑to‑end delivery, client relationships and overall project profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of EPC substation and transmission line projects across Saudi Arabia, defining execution strategy and priorities.
• Direct delivery from engineering and procurement through construction, testing, commissioning, energisation and handover.
• Manage Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Construction Managers and Project Controls teams.
• Act as senior interface with Saudi Electricity Company, National Grid SA, consultants and other stakeholders, leading executive reviews and issue resolution.
• Own project P&L, including budgets, forecasts, cash flow, cost optimisation and collections.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; a master’s or MBA is an advantage.
• Approximately 20 years of experience in power transmission and distribution, with at least 10 years in the Middle East.
• Proven delivery of 380 kV substation projects to energisation, and preferably transmission line experience.
• Background with EPC contractors in Saudi Arabia or the GCC and familiarity with SEC and National Grid standards.
• Strong commercial and contract management capabilities, including handling claims and variations.

Required skills

• Electrical engineering expertise for high‑voltage (380 kV) substations and transmission lines.
• Project management competence, supported by PMP, PMI‑SP or PRINCE2 certification.
• Knowledge of IEC standards and local SEC/National Grid specifications.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large‑scale contracts.
