Project Manager – 380kV Substation (Electrical)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager – 380kV Substation to manage the complete execution of high‑voltage substation projects. The role will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering projects in line with SEC requirements, contractual obligations, safety, quality, budget and schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete execution of 380kV Substation projects from mobilization through testing, commissioning and handover.
• Lead and coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning activities.
• Monitor installation and commissioning of major equipment such as GIS, power transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems, SCADA, cables and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure compliance with SEC standards, approved drawings, specifications, contractual and international standards.
• Prepare and monitor project schedules, milestones, manpower and resource plans.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, engineering teams and internal stakeholders.
• Track project progress, cost, quality, safety and overall performance, and take corrective actions when needed.
• Identify risks, delays, technical issues and interface challenges and implement mitigation measures.
• Manage subcontractors to meet project requirements, schedule, quality and HSE standards.
• Support commercial and contractual matters including variations, claims and change orders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Engineering.
• 12–15 years of experience in high‑voltage substation projects.
• Strong experience managing 380kV GIS/AIS Substation projects for an EPC contractor.
• Previous experience with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) projects is highly preferred.
• Saudi Council of Engineers registration preferred for work in Saudi Arabia.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of 380kV GIS/AIS substations and high‑voltage systems.
• Experience in project planning, execution, monitoring, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Good understanding of GIS, power transformers, protection and control systems, SCADA and associated substation equipment.
• Strong subcontractor and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Solid grasp of project schedules, budgets, risks, contracts and change management.
• Knowledge of HSE and quality requirements for high‑voltage projects.
