QA/QC Engineer – Mechanical & Welding (Site)

About the role

The QA/QC Engineer – Mechanical & Welding (Site) ensures that all mechanical, fabrication, installation and welding activities on project sites meet approved procedures, specifications, codes and client quality requirements. Based in Dammam with potential relocation across the Middle East, the role involves extensive on‑site inspection, testing and documentation to guarantee safe, compliant and right‑first‑time execution.

Key responsibilities

• Implement quality plans, ITPs, method statements and procedures for mechanical and welding works.
• Inspect and witness material receipt, fit‑up, alignment, welding, erection, installation, pressure testing and mechanical completion.
• Verify material traceability, MTCs, consumables and preservation requirements.
• Review welding documentation (WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, weld maps, repair logs).
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities (RT, UT, MT, PT) and assess compliance reports.
• Maintain inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, corrective actions and turnover dossiers.
• Identify non‑conforming work and drive corrective and preventive actions to closure.
• Support audits, quality awareness initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering or related discipline.
• CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or AWS‑CWI certification (or equivalent).
• Proven QA/QC experience in mechanical, piping, equipment installation and welding inspection on industrial or oil & gas sites.
• Strong knowledge of ASME, API, AWS and ISO standards.
• Ability to read isometrics, GA drawings, P&IDs and fabrication drawings.
• Willingness to work predominantly on‑site (70‑80% of time).
