Refund Senior Auditor

About the role

The Refund Senior Auditor is responsible for overseeing complex tax refund audits, ensuring compliance with ZATCA regulations and internal policies. Working with minimal supervision, the auditor evaluates large accounts, conducts desk audits, and provides accurate assessments to support refund decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update refund policies, limits, risk controls, and margins to align with ZATCA rules.
• Develop and maintain assessment templates and audit tools for efficient customer request analysis.
• Stay informed on industry developments across sectors such as insurance, telecom, and consumer goods to incorporate new tax practices.
• Consolidate, categorize, and prioritize refund requests, directing them to appropriate audit teams.
• Examine legal documents and supporting evidence to verify completeness before assessment.
• Gather data, conduct desk audits, and liaise with stakeholders including account managers, banks, and government entities.
• Research taxpayer business activities, financial statements, and structures to determine appropriate assessment approaches.
• Identify high‑risk or non‑compliant cases, compile findings, and recommend approval or rejection decisions.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports and tax assessment documentation.

Required profile

• Proven ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical skills for complex tax and refund evaluations.
• Experience conducting full tax audits and desk audits on large accounts.
• Excellent understanding of ZATCA regulations and tax compliance standards.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder coordination and report preparation.
