Registrar - Gastroenterology

About the role

The Telemedicine Gastroenterology Registrar is a physician in advanced training who delivers specialised care for gastrointestinal and hepatology patients via virtual platforms. Working under consultant supervision, the registrar ensures safe, patient‑centred care while complying with SCFHS and telemedicine regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct virtual consultations for conditions such as GERD, IBS, IBD follow‑up, fatty liver disease, hepatitis, and functional GI disorders.
• Review laboratory results and imaging remotely, adjust management plans, and flag red‑alert cases for urgent in‑person assessment.
• Document all encounters accurately in the EMR and participate in telemedicine‑driven care pathways.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge through CME, workshops, and academic activities.
• Support teaching of junior doctors and contribute to case discussions.
• Adhere to clinical guidelines, safe prescribing practices, and report safety concerns to the Quality Department.
• Engage in virtual audits, quality‑improvement initiatives, and clinical reviews.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with completion of an Internal Medicine residency.
• Fellowship training in Gastroenterology or equivalent advanced training.
• Registered with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and eligible to practice under telemedicine regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in telemedicine‑based care delivery.
• Strong experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
