Roller Compactor Operator – 15 Ton Machinery

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Roller Compactor Operator to run 15‑ton tandem or single‑drum rollers on construction projects. The role involves achieving soil and asphalt compaction targets while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate 15‑ton roller compactors (tandem or single‑drum) to meet specified compaction specifications.
• Perform pre‑shift inspections, routine maintenance and report any equipment issues.
• Monitor engine gauges, temperature and hydraulic systems, adjusting controls for optimal compaction.
• Follow project plans, compaction specifications and quality‑control procedures.
• Maintain a clean work area, minimise disruption to other crews and ensure site safety.
• Record daily production, maintenance and safety observations and notify supervisors of any deviations.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down staging areas and coordinate with nearby crews.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience operating 15‑ton roller compactors on construction sites.
• Valid operator certification or licence as required by local regulations.
• Strong knowledge of compaction techniques for soil and asphalt.
• Understanding of safety standards, including PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ability to read and follow plans, specifications and QA/QC documentation.
• Good communication skills, reliable and able to work as part of a team.
