Safety Officer – Occupational Health & Safety

About the role

The Safety Officer will create and maintain a safe working environment by applying occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, policies, and procedures. You will work closely with employees, contractors, and management to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses.

Key responsibilities

• Implement OHS policies, procedures and standards across the workplace.
• Conduct regular inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with local regulations, company policies and international safety standards.
• Deliver safety inductions, awareness sessions and training for staff, contractors and visitors.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, prepare root‑cause reports and recommend preventive measures.
• Manage the use, maintenance and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Coordinate emergency response drills, fire evacuations and ensure first‑aid and firefighting equipment readiness.
• Report safety performance, issues and improvement initiatives to management.
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, with a “ممارس” (Practitioner) classification from Kawader.
• Professional safety certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA or IOSH are preferred.
• 1–3 years of practical OHS experience, preferably in an industrial or food‑manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of local OHS regulations and Civil Defense requirements.
• Effective communication and coordination skills with employees and contractors at all levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
