Scrap Estimation Lead

About the role

The Scrap Estimation Lead will drive the end‑to‑end estimation process for industrial demolition and dismantling projects, ensuring accurate cost and scrap recovery forecasts. Reporting to senior management, the role combines technical site assessments with commercial analysis to support bid decisions and project profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead estimation from site assessment through final commercial submission for demolition projects.
• Review client requirements, drawings, asset lists, photographs and technical documents to define scope.
• Conduct or lead site surveys to evaluate structures, equipment, pipelines, tanks, cables and other recoverable materials.
• Quantify ferrous and non‑ferrous scrap, develop BOQs, quantity take‑offs and cost estimates.
• Calculate demolition costs including manpower, equipment, tools, consumables, transportation, disposal, permits and subcontractors.
• Assess scrap recovery potential and market value to determine project economics and profitability.
• Prepare cost models, profitability analysis and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Operations, Procurement, Logistics, Sales and HSE teams to validate assumptions.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and service providers.
• Prepare competitive commercial offers and tenders aligned with company margins.
• Maintain a database of historical costs, recovery rates and productivity for future estimates.
• Lead and develop the estimation team, ensuring consistency, accuracy and timely submission.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience, preferably in industrial demolition/dismantling.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on demolition estimation experience.
• Proven ability to analyse complex site conditions, hazardous materials and disposal requirements.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience preparing cost models and profitability analyses.
