Senior Backend Engineer – AI Applications & OpenShift

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build secure, scalable backend services for enterprise AI‑enabled applications. You will work in a hybrid environment in Riyadh, collaborating with AI, data, DevOps and cybersecurity teams to deliver reliable, business‑critical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure backend services and RESTful APIs for enterprise web applications.
• Build and enhance services for reporting, dashboards, notifications, user workflows, administrative functions and AI‑enabled capabilities.
• Integrate applications with enterprise data sources, document repositories, notification services and existing backend systems.
• Implement real‑time or near‑real‑time data flows using APIs, WebSockets, Server‑Sent Events, message queues and similar patterns.
• Collaborate with AI and data teams to embed model outputs, analytics, RAG/LLM capabilities and monitoring components.
• Support containerised deployments with Docker, OpenShift and Kubernetes, using Bitbucket/Git, CI/CD pipelines and release management.
• Ensure application reliability, security and operational readiness through troubleshooting, logging, performance optimisation, secure coding, testing and documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in full‑stack or backend‑focused enterprise application development.
• Proven ability to design and build scalable backend services using modern frameworks.
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and production‑grade deployment processes.
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
