Senior Civil Structural Engineer

About the role

As a member of the FlexRig Engineering Eastern Hemisphere team, this candidate will work closely with regional and operational managers to ensure H&P’s engineering needs are met for each Middle East country we operate in. The engineer will collaborate with other engineers, drafting staff and field inspectors to accomplish tasks efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate construction projects with local fabricators and the H&P Houston assembly facility.
• Design new structures and analyze existing builds for modification projects.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with H&P’s primary fabrication facilities.
• Create and distribute Certificate of Compliance documents for various designs.
• Work with International Marketing groups on proposals, budget estimates and schedules.
• Formalize technical reports from design analysis.
• Review and check coworker design packages.
• Author standardized technical letters for rig functions and equipment design.
• Provide technical support for structural repairs, field upgrades and CAT III & IV inspections.
• Mentor junior engineers and advise cross‑functional teams.
• Conduct in‑field audits and reviews of existing equipment.
• Travel to rigs and field sites to support upgrades and inspections, including occasional overnight stays.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
• At least 8 years of structural design experience, including formal design reports, hand calculations and CAD analysis.
• Experience with drilling rig design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Knowledge of AISC design practices, API specifications and general structural steel fabrication.
• Ability to lead projects and work autonomously.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally and to rig locations.
