Senior Cost Control Engineer

About the role

The Senior Cost Control Engineer will oversee the financial performance of large‑scale construction projects, leading budgeting, forecasting and cost reporting activities. You will work closely with project teams to identify cost overruns and implement corrective actions, ensuring projects stay within financial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project budgets covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors and other costs.
• Monitor expenditures against approved budgets, analyse variances and report findings to senior management.
• Prepare cost forecasts, assess financial risks and recommend cost control measures.
• Manage scope and budget changes, ensuring proper documentation and financial impact assessment.
• Apply Earned Value Management techniques to evaluate cost performance and identify deviations.
• Coordinate with planning and scheduling teams to align timelines, milestones and resources with budget constraints.
• Produce periodic cost reports, financial forecasts and management presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 6‑15 years of experience in cost estimating, cost control and variance analysis for construction projects.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and communicate financial information to senior leadership.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of project budgeting, cost control and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Practical experience with Earned Value Management (CPI, cost performance analysis).
• Proficiency in SAP ERP for project cost tracking and reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and analysis.
• Experience with Power BI or similar data‑visualisation tools.
• Familiarity with variation management, cost allocation and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
