Senior Dimensional Quality Technician

About the role

The Senior Dimensional Quality Technician ensures the dimensional accuracy and quality of body‑in‑white (BIW) components and assemblies. This role combines precise measurement, data analysis, and corrective action implementation to support production stability and continuous improvement in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct dimensional inspections of BIW components and assemblies using CMM, laser trackers, inline measurement systems, calipers, micrometers, and other tools.
• Define and implement corrective actions to reduce defects and improve process capability.
• Document inspection results, generate detailed summaries and ensure traceability for audits.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to resolve dimensional issues using GD&T principles.
• Create or modify CMM programs (PC‑DMIS, Calypso, PolyWorks) to automate part inspections.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives and compare measurement data to CAD models to highlight deviations.

Required profile

• Technical associate degree (automotive manufacturing preferred) with 4–6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in dimensional inspection or quality control in an automotive environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams, standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lb.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills and basic knowledge of statistical analysis.

Required skills

• Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operation and programming (PC‑DMIS, Calypso, PolyWorks).
• Laser tracker and other inline measurement equipment.
• Proficiency with GD&T and interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with CAD tools, MES systems and digital manufacturing platforms.
• Knowledge of BIW tooling, fixtures, automation, joining processes and SPC.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
