Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

A Senior Geotechnical Engineer is required to provide technical expertise and lead the geotechnical engineering efforts on a major rail‑transit project for the Program Management / Construction Management team. The role supports the Design Management Group by performing design reviews, conventional and moderately complex geotechnical assignments, and applying advanced engineering analysis techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of geotechnical engineers and coordinate with design consultants and PM/CM staff on tunnels, deep excavations and diaphragm walls.
• Review geotechnical designs and earth structures for urban excavations and mechanically stabilised earth walls to ensure conformance with project specifications.
• Provide technical recommendations for subsurface investigations, field exploration, sampling, soil classification and analysis.
• Perform specialised analyses for foundations, ground improvement, earth pressure, liquefaction, geo‑synthetics and earthquake‑induced ground deformation.
• Evaluate bids, make recommendations and ensure the quality‑control system is applied to all geotechnical work.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience on large civil infrastructure projects, with a proven track record in geotechnical investigation management and design of deep/shallow foundations, piles, retaining walls and tunnels.
• Strong knowledge of industry practices, regulations and project‑management processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear, concise reporting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as gINT, Plaxis, Slope W, Seep W and Piglet.
• Experience in soil classification, liquefaction analysis, grading, drainage and slope‑stability analysis.
• Knowledge of geo‑synthetics, retaining walls, tunnel design and ground‑improvement techniques.
• Ability to manage and mentor a team of geotechnical engineers.
