Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Railway Design

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead design activities for large‑scale railway infrastructure projects in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The role involves delivering technically robust solutions that meet international standards and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical design for railway projects, ensuring compliance with international and Saudi standards.
• Supervise site investigations, soil and rock testing, and laboratory analysis.
• Interpret geotechnical data and produce comprehensive technical reports and design documents.
• Review and mentor junior engineers and external consultants.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, civil and environmental engineers.
• Provide technical input for construction methodologies, ground risk assessments and value engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years on railway or major infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience managing large, complex geotechnical design packages in the Middle East, preferably Saudi Arabia.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng, PE or equivalent) preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
