Senior Manager – Design

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Manager – Design to lead architectural guidance, analysis, and recommendations for complex infrastructure projects. You will manage multidisciplinary design teams, ensure compliance with standards, and collaborate with engineering, construction, and client stakeholders to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, and recommendations within project schedules and budgets.
• Manage and mentor groups of architects, designers, and specialists, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing environment.
• Assist Project Architectural or Engineering Managers on complex initiatives and supply technical expertise as needed.
• Oversee project delivery, ensuring adherence to design standards, quality benchmarks, and regulatory requirements across all phases.
• Develop and track project budgets and resources, optimizing allocation for efficiency.
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance assessments to maintain technical excellence.
• Contribute to strategic planning, process improvement, and innovation within the design discipline.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in architectural design, including at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (ADA, IBC, local zoning).
• Proven experience managing and mentoring diverse design teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in architectural design principles, building systems, and construction methodologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with industry‑standard design software.
