Senior Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Senior Procurement Specialist will lead end‑to‑end purchasing activities for a retail operation, ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services at optimal value while maintaining quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full procurement cycle from requisition to order issuance, delivery follow‑up and supplier payment coordination.
• Source, evaluate and qualify new suppliers in line with company policies.
• Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to guarantee continuous supply and high service levels.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts and commercial agreements to achieve cost savings.
• Prepare, review and administer supplier contracts with relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Collaborate with merchandising, planning, warehouse, logistics and operations teams to ensure product availability across stores.
• Monitor inventory levels, support replenishment planning and minimise stock shortages.
• Analyse procurement data and spending trends to identify process improvements and cost‑optimization opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, internal controls and ethical sourcing standards.
• Conduct market research, track industry trends and support strategic sourcing initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as CIPS, CPSM or CSCP are a plus.
• 2–5 years of procurement experience, preferably within the retail sector.
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation and procurement operations.
• Strong understanding of inventory management and supply‑chain processes.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
