Senior Specialist, Fabrication and Welding

About the role

The Senior Specialist in the Prototype Shop Center is a hands‑on technical joining expert responsible for building, modifying and assembling low‑volume prototype parts, jigs and fixtures for vehicle projects. The role provides technical direction, ensures compliance with engineering specifications and supports prototype vehicle build activities.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings and CAD data to guide fabrication and welding tasks.
• Operate joining technologies such as CMT, MIG, TIG, spot and stud welding, as well as riveting and gluing on ferrous and non‑ferrous materials.
• Perform metal forming, bending, rolling, drilling, cutting, grinding and CNC laser cutting operations.
• Execute car body repair, vehicle assembly/disassembly and rework of BIW components during prototype builds.
• Support quality management, health and safety policies, and manufacturing process control plans.
• Provide technical feedback to engineering teams and train developing talent.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a workshop technician role, preferably in prototype vehicle build programmes.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD data.
• Welding (CMT, MIG, TIG, spot, stud) and riveting.
• Metal forming, bending, rolling, drilling, cutting, grinding.
• CNC laser cutting operation.
• Car body repair methods and vehicle assembly/disassembly.
• Weld testing (destructive, non‑destructive, ultrasonic).
