Signals Engineer – Railway Signalling Systems

About the role

The Signals Engineer will design, develop and oversee the implementation of railway signalling systems that ensure safe train movements. You will lead the design of trackside, wayside, signal‑room and control‑room equipment and manage vendor‑delivered train control projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of complete signalling systems, including Computer‑Based Interlocking (CBI) software.
• Technical management of train control system projects executed by external vendors.
• Integrate signalling and train‑control solutions into stations, traction power substations, depots and control centres.
• Prepare and deliver design, construction and interface‑control documentation.
• Coordinate with internal design, domain and requirements teams as well as external architects, code consultants and suppliers.
• Support construction, installation, testing, commissioning and hand‑over activities.
• Assist customer staff with training and produce O&M manuals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in railway signalling and train‑control system design.
• Proven expertise with multiple technologies such as ETCS, ATC, CBTC and PTC.
• Strong background in conventional signalling and grade‑crossing solutions.
• Experience integrating signalling systems into multidisciplinary transit projects.
• Excellent documentation skills for design drawings, technical requirements and specifications.
