SMP Lead Operator – Refining & Hydrocracking

About the role

The SMP Lead Operator is responsible for overseeing and executing critical processes across multiple plant units, including refining, sweetening, refrigeration, storage, shipping, fractionation, drying, crude distillation, stripping, plat forming, and hydro‑cracking. The role combines hands‑on operation with leadership of shift operators to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor operating procedures for all assigned units, ensuring adherence to HSSE policies.
• Lead shift operators, coordinate daily activities, and provide guidance to junior team members.
• Perform safe start‑up and shutdown sequences, maintain log books, and complete required checklists.
• Respond to emergencies, conduct risk assessments, and activate the Emergency Response Team when needed.
• Conduct regular inspections, identify malfunctions, and liaise with maintenance for equipment repairs.
• Take samples, carry out chemical and physical tests, and report deviations.
• Document work activities, raise maintenance notifications, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Two‑year diploma or equivalent, or high school qualification.
• Proven experience operating complex oil‑ and gas‑processing facilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding of HSSE standards and work‑permit procedures.
