Software Engineer – Juju (Go)

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Software Engineer to work on Juju, its open‑source Go platform that orchestrates complex distributed software across clouds, Kubernetes and bare‑metal. The position is fully remote, with occasional travel for team events.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and support new features for a highly concurrent, distributed automation system.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed engineering team and upstream open‑source communities.
• Debug production issues, contribute patches upstream and ensure reliability at scale.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions and knowledge sharing.
• Travel 2‑4 weeks per year for internal meetings and community events.

Required profile

• Proven experience writing production‑grade software in Go.
• Strong written and verbal English communication, especially in remote collaboration.
• Excellent academic record from high school and preferably university.
• Willingness to travel up to four times a year for on‑site events.
