Strategy Management Office (SMO) Manager

About the role

The Strategy Management Office (SMO) Manager leads the development, implementation and monitoring of the organisation’s strategic plan, ensuring that business objectives are tightly aligned with operational execution. Reporting to senior leadership, the role drives performance management and supports data‑driven decision‑making across all departments.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with executive leadership to create and regularly update the corporate strategic plan.
• Facilitate strategic planning workshops and alignment sessions to ensure departmental initiatives support overall corporate goals.
• Design and maintain performance management frameworks, including KPIs and the Balanced Scorecard, and produce regular performance reports.
• Lead performance review meetings, identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• Establish SMO governance policies, prepare executive‑level dashboards and manage version control of all strategic documents.
• Oversee the strategic project portfolio, collaborate with the PMO, and prioritise initiatives based on strategic value and feasibility.
• Act as a liaison between senior leadership and business units, promoting stakeholder engagement and clear communication of strategic priorities.
• Continuously benchmark best practices in strategy management and foster a culture of strategic thinking and continuous improvement.

• Proven ability to recruit, develop and manage high‑performing teams, as well as address low performance.
• Demonstrated fairness and non‑discriminatory treatment of subordinates.
• Strong sense of responsibility for delivering results in line with corporate guidelines.
• Proactive problem‑anticipation and decisive action to mitigate risks.
• Understanding of delegation of authority matrices and corporate governance.
