Systems Engineer – Airfield Lighting Maintenance

About the role

The Systems Engineer will be based at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager. The role oversees maintenance of the Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS), Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) and Constant Current Regulators (CCRs) under an SLA contract. The engineer ensures all activities meet contractual, technical and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the maintenance team responsible for ALCMS, AGL, CCRs and related electronic equipment.
• Plan, schedule and assign work orders, including overtime, vacations and standby duties.
• Maintain records, prepare reports and ensure availability of spare parts, tools and vehicles.
• Develop and follow preventive, corrective and unplanned maintenance procedures.
• Prepare and submit Permit‑to‑Work requests and enforce safety regulations.
• Lead troubleshooting of complex faults, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager on budgeting, spare‑part procurement and technical documentation.
• Achieve SLA contract KPIs and participate in on‑call, recall and standby programmes.

Required profile

• Diploma in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience, including hands‑on work with ALCMS, AGL systems and CCRs.
• Strong knowledge of airfield lighting control, ICAO standards and safety regulations.
• Ability to interpret complex technical instructions and communicate effectively by radio with the ATC tower.
• Proven capability to supervise, train and motivate subordinate staff.
• Excellent spoken and written English; additional languages are a plus.
