Venue Operations Manager

About the role

The Venue Operations Manager is responsible for keeping the Black Box venue safe, guest‑ready, and commercially efficient. You will lead the implementation of event and public‑realm operating plans to ensure reliable live‑entertainment experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee venue readiness across opening, closing, safety, cleanliness, maintenance and service standards.
• Execute event operating plans from pre‑production through load‑out, ensuring safe and consistent activations.
• Coordinate with promoters, operators, tenants, contractors, agencies and local authorities to align venue requirements.
• Apply health, safety, fire, crowd‑management and emergency‑response protocols to protect guests, staff and assets.
• Develop public‑realm and community activation routines with partners to boost footfall and audience engagement.
• Manage venue cost, utilization, event performance and operational reporting for commercial discipline.
• Coach on‑site staff, contractors, ushers, stewards and service providers to maintain consistent guest experience.
• Conduct post‑event reviews, analyse incident trends and guest feedback to improve future delivery.
• Coordinate AVL, staging and rigging crews, overseeing installation, rehearsals and strike schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in venue operations, live events or related hospitality environments.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience managing teams, contractors or vendors.
• Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Venue Operations, Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Preferred certifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, crowd‑management or event‑safety qualifications.
