Well Drilling & Maintenance Section Head

About the role

The Well Drilling and Maintenance Section Head leads the supervision and monitoring of all well drilling and maintenance activities across various well types, ensuring compliance with global industry standards and minimizing hydrocarbon migration.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and regulate well drilling and maintenance operations for production, injection, subsea and other well types.
• Review well design documents and drilling plans before commencement.
• Develop and manage the well monitoring and surveillance programme, including periodic inspections.
• Oversee quarterly well abandonment reports, environmental impact assessments and mitigation measures.
• Ensure licensee compliance with hydrocarbon migration limits, waste prevention and environmental protection.
• Evaluate drilling technologies used by licensees and recommend improvements.
• Supervise plugging and abandonment activities for non‑productive wells.
• Coordinate handling of archaeological findings and enforce preservation standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in well drilling, maintenance or related oil‑and‑gas engineering fields.
• Strong knowledge of global industry standards, regulatory compliance and well‑bore integrity.
• Proven ability to lead technical reviews, reporting and stakeholder coordination.
