Alignment Engineer – Design (Metro Projects)

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking a senior Alignment Engineer to lead the design of horizontal and vertical alignments for metro projects. You will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient and cost‑effective alignment solutions from concept through detailed design.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the alignment design process, from concept studies to detailed design, ensuring compliance with international and local standards.
• Lead route selection studies, evaluating technical, environmental, social and operational constraints.
• Approve horizontal and vertical alignment proposals and optimise them for constructability.
• Interface with civil, track, structures, systems, geotechnical and environmental teams to integrate alignment with all disciplines.
• Manage interactions with land‑acquisition, stakeholder and authority entities to secure alignment feasibility.
• Review and validate alignment deliverables, models and drawings, implementing quality‑control procedures.
• Participate in meetings, workshops and site visits, representing alignment interests and addressing technical concerns.
• Identify and mitigate alignment‑related risks and manage change documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in alignment design for metro or rail projects, preferably in the Middle East.
• Strong understanding of horizontal and vertical alignment principles and related standards.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder interfaces.
• Senior‑level expertise with a focus on technical excellence and constructability.
