Director of Nursing

About the role

The Director of Nursing leads the Nursing Department, ensuring high‑quality, timely and cost‑effective nursing care across the hospital. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the role collaborates closely with the Medical Director and Quality Director to uphold clinical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set departmental goals, cascade objectives to reporting sections and monitor achievement.
• Develop and contribute to sector policies, procedures and processes.
• Provide direction and advice to direct reports, overseeing their performance and KPI monitoring.
• Ensure optimal allocation and utilization of nursing resources.
• Lead strategic planning, budgeting and space, technology and staffing recommendations.
• Represent nursing staff in hospital‑wide decision‑making bodies and multidisciplinary committees.
• Drive nursing education, quality improvement initiatives and organizational chart development.
• Maintain superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding for every patient.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a nursing department or equivalent senior nursing leadership role.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies, procedures and quality improvement programs.
• Strong leadership skills with experience overseeing direct reports and KPI management.
• Experience in strategic planning, budgeting and resource allocation within a hospital setting.
• Active participation in multidisciplinary committees and hospital governance.
