Mechanical Engineer – Power Plant Maintenance

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will supervise a team of maintenance technicians and support staff to carry out day‑to‑day mechanical maintenance at a power and desalination plant. The role also supports major plant outages under a gas‑turbine service agreement, ensuring safety, reliability and efficiency targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and obtain required permits for all work.
• Supervise technicians and contractors, enforcing HSE procedures and safe work practices.
• Plan, schedule and execute maintenance tasks using the CMMS, documenting all work and generating reports.
• Perform equipment troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and repairs to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with plant operations to resolve mechanical issues and support 24‑hour call‑out requirements.
• Assist the Lead Mechanical Engineer in outage planning, budgeting and spare‑parts management.

Required profile

• B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of power or desalination plants (3–5 years preferred for external hires).
• Age between 25 and 35 years.
• Ability to work on‑site and respond to short‑notice call‑outs.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Knowledge of OEM manuals and best‑practice maintenance procedures.
• Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis and equipment failure troubleshooting.
