Outpatient Pharmacist

About the role

The Outpatient Pharmacist ensures safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications for patients in an outpatient setting, supporting the highest standards of patient satisfaction and medication safety.

Key responsibilities

• Review, interpret, and verify physician medication orders, checking dosage, duration, and potential drug interactions.
• Communicate with prescribers to resolve ambiguities or concerns.
• Oversee preparation, double‑check labeling, and dispense verified medications.
• Calculate drug dosages based on patient weight and age.
• Enter external prescriptions into the CPOE system of Fakeeh Care HIS before dispensing.
• Promptly notify patients at dispensing windows to minimize waiting time.
• Counsel patients and caregivers on proper medication use, storage, and interactions.
• Maintain inventory control, secure storage of narcotics, and handle near‑expiry medications according to policy.
• Charge patients for dispensed medications and document any medication errors or adverse drug reactions.
• Adhere to infection‑prevention standards when preparing IV and TPN formulas.
• Participate in training and orientation of new pharmacists, students, and trainees.

Required profile

• Licensed pharmacist with experience in outpatient or hospital pharmacy settings.
• Strong knowledge of medication safety procedures, drug‑to‑drug interactions, and dosage calculations.
• Familiarity with inventory management and controlled substance regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and pharmacy team members.
• Commitment to continuous education and professional development.
