Process Safety Engineer

About the role

Fluor is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to support project teams by delivering high‑quality engineering solutions that enhance safety and competitiveness. The role involves applying technical expertise to moderate‑complex assignments and ensuring compliance with project standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review specifications, design criteria, and cost‑effective project solutions.
• Participate in equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
• Perform engineering calculations, specify equipment, and resolve moderate to complex technical issues.
• Review vendor documentation for compliance and manage discrepancy resolution.
• Analyze problems and provide independent recommendations aligned with project objectives.
• Support the Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Accredited four‑year engineering degree (or global equivalent) and at least four years of relevant experience.
• Professional registration or certification preferred.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret local, state/province, and federal regulations.
• Detail‑oriented, time‑conscious, and capable of working independently.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards.
• Practical field experience in process safety engineering.
• Intermediate proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation software.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and cost‑competitive execution analysis.
