Senior Legal Researcher

About the role

The Senior Legal Researcher will support ZATCA in managing litigation, drafting policies, and providing legal analysis across tax, zakat, and customs matters. Operating with minimal supervision, the role involves preparing complex reports, maintaining legal databases, and assisting in negotiations and representations before judicial bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Draft ZATCA lawsuit management policies, guidelines, and standard model forms.
• Research global best practices to identify improvement opportunities for legal systems and processes.
• Develop templates for lawsuit management services across all ZATCA functions.
• Assist in creating negotiation strategies with internal stakeholders for effective case management.
• Maintain and continuously update the lawsuit management database, ensuring request logs are current.
• Conduct preliminary evaluations to assess severity and urgency of litigation cases.
• Represent ZATCA in cases before judicial bodies, committees, and governmental authorities, ensuring all supporting documents are prepared.
• Prepare settlement proposals for negotiations with employees and external parties (excluding audit and collection matters).
• Archive judgments from successful lawsuits for future reference.
• Identify and engage outsourced legal experts for non‑tax, zakat, and customs litigation as needed.
• Follow policies, processes, and SOPs to ensure consistent, controlled work execution.
• Support junior team members and escalate complex issues appropriately.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal research or litigation experience.
• Proficiency in project management, data gathering, research and analysis, and legal writing.
• Strong understanding of legislation, regulations, and policy drafting.
• Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and collaborate effectively.
