Senior Payments Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a highly detail‑oriented Senior Payments Accountant to manage and review the company’s payment operations with accuracy and compliance. The role ensures that all payment transactions are processed, recorded, and aligned with internal policies and financial controls, supporting efficient cash‑flow management.

Key responsibilities

• Review invoices and supporting documents for completeness and contract compliance.
• Prepare and verify payment orders before approval based on delegated authority.
• Process supplier and vendor payments, monitoring due dates for timely settlement.
• Record all payment transactions in the financial system with correct accounting entries.
• Classify operating and capital expenditures to appropriate cost centres.
• Prepare and reconcile accounts payable, monitor open balances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with treasury to confirm sufficient liquidity before scheduled payments.
• Monitor advance payments and pending settlements for timely closure.
• Produce periodic payment reports, including overdue analysis and improvement recommendations.
• Communicate with vendors to resolve payment inquiries and claims.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities through payment schedules and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and contribute to process efficiency.
• Participate in automation initiatives to improve data quality and reduce errors.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience in payment processing, accounts payable, and treasury coordination.
• Ability to work with internal policies and financial controls.
• Proven capability to support month‑end and year‑end closing cycles.
