Assistant Driller

About the role

Saudi Gold Refinery is looking for an Assistant Driller to support exploration drilling operations in Riyadh. The role involves operating and maintaining drilling rigs in remote field locations while ensuring strict safety and environmental compliance. You will work closely with the Driller to keep the rig running efficiently and to collect high‑quality geological samples.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Driller in controlling drawworks, rotary table, and mud pumps to achieve target depths and angles.
• Perform daily inspections, lubrication, and preventive maintenance of engines, hydraulics, and structural components.
• Enforce permit‑to‑work, lockout/tagout, and personal protective equipment procedures for the crew.
• Handle drill cuttings and core samples, ensuring accurate labeling, secure storage, and contamination prevention.
• Supervise roustabouts in safe handling of pipes and heavy materials, providing on‑the‑job training.
• Maintain detailed daily logs of drilling progress, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities for the Exploration Manager.
• Coordinate with camp staff to ensure adequate supplies of water, fuel, and drilling mud.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with drilling rigs or similar heavy‑equipment operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance.
• Commitment to safety standards and ability to lead by example.
• Willingness to work in remote, challenging field conditions.
