Bolt Torque Lead Technician

About the role

ABIS is looking for a skilled Bolt Torque Lead Technician to oversee and manage all bolt tightening activities on its projects. The role involves planning, coordinating and supervising bolt torque operations so that they comply with applicable standards and project specifications. It requires a strong understanding of bolting procedures, torque tools and safety practices, and leads a team of technicians while maintaining accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise bolt torque activities on site according to project requirements and standards.
• Develop and implement bolting procedures and torque plans.
• Coordinate with engineering and quality control teams to ensure compliance and resolve technical issues.
• Inspect and certify bolted joints and torque tools for accuracy and safety.
• Train and mentor junior technicians in bolting techniques and safety practices.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reports of torqueing activities.
• Ensure all bolting operations are completed safely, on time and within budget.

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in bolt torque activities, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
• Leadership experience with the ability to supervise and train a team.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
