Chemical Engineer – Refining Processes

About the role

Saudi Gold Refinery is seeking a Chemical Engineer to optimise wet‑chemical refining processes and ensure technical accuracy in the assay laboratory. The role focuses on maximising gold and silver recovery while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse daily refining data to adjust acid ratios and temperature controls for optimal metal recovery.
• Provide technical guidance to lab technicians on wet‑chemical analyses and troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Conduct regular safety audits of chemical storage, fume extraction, PTW and LOTO compliance.
• Monitor effluent pH and heavy‑metal content to meet national environmental permits.
• Maintain SOPs, lead incident investigations and prepare reports for internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry (Saudi Ministry of Education recognised).
• Minimum 5 years experience in hydrometallurgy, precious‑metal refining or industrial chemical processing.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 quality systems.
• Fluency in English and working proficiency in Arabic.
• Ability to work in a plant environment with shift rotations and PPE.

Required skills

• Wet chemical analysis techniques (titration, gravimetric analysis, spectroscopy).
• Process safety methodologies (HAZOP, LOTO, hazardous material handling).
• Data analysis tools for interpreting complex process data.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 documentation.
