Chief Accountant (Founding Team)

About the role

We are a fast‑growing mobility and car‑rental technology startup looking for a founding Chief Accountant to design and run the entire finance function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the leadership team, you will be the sole finance owner, responsible for everything from bookkeeping to strategic financial modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and manage the full accounting cycle: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, month‑end close, and financial reporting.
• Handle Saudi compliance end‑to‑end, including ZATCA VAT, e‑invoicing/Fatoorah, Zakat, corporate tax, GOSI, and WPS payroll filings.
• Develop financial models, budgets, forecasts, and burn‑rate tracking to guide business decisions.
• Oversee cash‑flow management and runway monitoring.
• Prepare investor and board reports and ensure the books are ready for due diligence.
• Implement financial controls, policies, and select/maintain the accounting ERP system.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on accounting experience with deep knowledge of accrual accounting and IFRS as applied in Saudi Arabia.
• Practical expertise in Saudi tax and compliance processes, performed directly on government portals.
• Proven ability to build financial models and run scenario analyses.
• Commercially minded, analytical, and curious about the drivers behind the numbers.
• Fluent in both Arabic and English.
• Self‑sufficient, organized, and comfortable owning the finance function alone in a startup environment.
