Coffee Roaster – Green Coffee Production Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Coffee Roaster to manage and optimise our green coffee roasting operations. You will be responsible for creating consistent, high‑quality roast profiles while minimising waste and ensuring efficient production.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and evaluate incoming green coffee, measuring moisture, density and bean size, and classify defects.
• Design and develop roast curves for various origins and processing methods, adjusting parameters such as charge temperature, turning point, rate of rise and first crack.
• Operate commercial roasting equipment (Probat, Loring, Giesen), monitoring temperature, airflow and drum speed, and record detailed batch data.
• Conduct regular cupping sessions to assess sensory attributes (sweetness, acidity, body, balance, flavor profile, aftertaste) and compare batches against quality standards.
• Plan daily production, manage green and roasted coffee inventories, track shrinkage and yield, and ensure readiness for commercial and wholesale demand.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of heat‑transfer principles (conductive, convective, radiant).
• Proficiency with roasting software and data analysis tools, especially Artisan and Cropster.
• Advanced sensory evaluation and coffee cupping skills.
• Analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
