Commercial Director – Infrastructure & Giga‑Project

About the role

Compass Project Consulting is seeking a seasoned Commercial Director to steer the commercial and contractual management of large‑scale infrastructure and development programmes within a giga‑project environment in Riyadh. The role demands strategic leadership, high‑value contract oversight, and executive‑level decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic commercial leadership across major development and infrastructure packages.
• Manage complex contractual matters, including correspondence with potential claims implications.
• Lead preparation, review, and response to high‑level contractual communications.
• Oversee variations, claims, compensation events, and dispute avoidance/resolution strategies.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks early.
• Advise senior stakeholders and project leadership on commercial matters.
• Review and approve major commercial submissions, reports, and contractual deliverables.
• Negotiate contractual positions with contractors and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with international standard forms of contract (e.g., FIDIC).
• Support financial forecasting, cost control, and commercial reporting at programme level.
• Mentor senior commercial and contract management teams.

Required profile

• 15–20+ years of commercial management experience in major infrastructure, real‑estate or giga‑project environments.
• Proven track record on large‑scale, high‑value programmes with complex stakeholder structures.
• Strong expertise in FIDIC and similar international contract frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience handling claims, disputes and contractual risk exposure.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline (MRICS preferred).
• Senior‑level leadership experience.
