Consultant Neurologist

About the role

The Consultant Neurologist provides the highest standard of clinical care for patients with neurological disorders. Working within a hospital setting, the role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and continuous quality improvement of neurology services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage assigned neurology clinics according to the approved schedule.
• Admit and oversee patients, conducting initial assessments, investigations, and follow‑up care.
• Prescribe medication, therapies, and other treatments while explaining procedures and results to patients and their families.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the consultant’s privileges.
• Document and authenticate all medical records in the electronic health record system.
• Supervise and review the work of junior medical staff, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals.
• Participate in departmental and hospital committees, contributing to policy development and quality improvement.
• Be on‑call as required, respond to Code Blue and other emergency situations.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in Neurology and full registration to practice.
• Current privileges to admit, treat, and discharge neurology patients.
• Ability to lead clinics, supervise staff, and contribute to departmental governance.
• Commitment to uphold Islamic values, medical ethics, and hospital policies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and authentication.
• Competence in neurological examination and interpretation of neuroimaging studies.
• Capability to perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic neurological procedures.
