Controls and Governance Consultant

About the role

The Controls and Governance Consultant will act as the first line of control for the cards function, ensuring operational discipline, accuracy and regulatory compliance across all card‑related activities. Reporting to the Head of Cards, the role requires a detail‑oriented professional who can influence stakeholders, safeguard processes and maintain the integrity of customer‑facing information.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the internal point of accountability for governance within the cards team, enforcing agreed standards and procedures.
• Review partner and vendor reports, validating compliance with regulatory, contractual and operational requirements.
• Monitor contractual timelines, flagging expired or soon‑to‑expire agreements and escalating for renewal.
• Oversee telesales scripts and operations to ensure accurate cardholder communications.
• Maintain up‑to‑date information on customer‑facing channels such as websites and applications.
• Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for card business functions.
• Audit marketing and product collateral to prevent obsolete or conflicting content.
• Provide detailed review of contracts, agreements and business cases before leadership escalation.
• Collaborate with product managers, operations, telesales and external vendors to align practices with compliance requirements.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of experience in governance, compliance or control functions, preferably within the cards or financial services sector.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
• Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proven ability to interpret contracts, partner agreements and regulatory reports.
• Persuasive communication skills to influence internal and external stakeholders.
