Costing & Budget Controller – Project Finance Specialist

About the role

The Costing & Budget Controller will lead the planning, monitoring and control of project budgets and costs, ensuring financial efficiency and alignment with project objectives. This role supports data‑driven decision‑making, improves cost transparency and optimizes resource allocation across construction and EPC projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project budgets aligned with scope and cost estimates.
• Validate cost assumptions and ensure they match project requirements.
• Update budget forecasts based on project progress and financial performance.
• Monitor actual costs against approved budgets, identify variances and analyse root causes.
• Implement cost control measures and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare accurate, timely cost and budget reports and deliver variance analysis.
• Maintain cost control systems, ensuring data integrity across tools.
• Enhance reporting efficiency through system improvements and automation.
• Support digital transformation initiatives and coordinate with IT for system updates.
• Collaborate with project, procurement and finance teams on cost‑related matters.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in cost control, budgeting or project finance.
• Strong understanding of construction cost structures and the project lifecycle.
• Industry experience in EPC, construction projects or similar sectors.
• Proven experience in budget preparation, cost tracking and variance analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance or a related field; PMP or cost‑control certifications are a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and financial modelling.
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Experience with cost‑control tools and reporting systems.
• Ability to perform variance analysis and forecasting.
• Proficiency in Power BI and dashboard development for data visualisation.
